Freakin' Deacon Dawson

No stranger to a ''Hot Mic'', ''Freakin' Deacon'' Dawson spent over 30 years waking up the masses via Myrtle Beach Radio Stations WKZQ FM, WSYN FM, and WYAK FM. Along the way, this National Billboard Magazine Award Winning Radio Personality secured and added a ''Golden Microphone Award'', several ''No. 1 Best of the Beach'' plaques to his extensive resume, and in 1998 was Inducted into the Carolina Beach Music Hall of Fame.

A 30 year member of SAG/AFTRA, ''The Deacon'' has appeared in over 30 movies and TV shows including, ''Matlock'', ''Identity Thief'', ''Runaway Jury',and the Academy Award Winning ( for Best Short Story),''Two Soldiers'' (According to IMDB.com).

Currently ''Deacon'' Co-Hosts the popular, ''RiverTalk'' with his ''Gimme 5'' Co-hort, ''Banana Jack'' Murphy. River Talk airs weekdays 6 am - 7 am on the local CW Network affiliate, WWMB - CW 21, which can be found on both HTC Cable and Spectrum.

Banana Jack Murphy

Murphy started his broadcast career in 1982 at a small AM station just outside of Raleigh, NC. By 1985 he was the number one nighttime disc jockey in the Triangle working at WZZU FM. In 1987, Murphy took over the morning show at WEQR FM and after 2 successful years in morning drive there he moved to WKZQ FM in Myrtle Beach.

Murphy handled wakeup duties for 18 years at WKZQ FM and WYAV FM. In 2007, Banana Jack and his family formed a broadcast company and purchased WLSC Tiger Radio in Loris, SC. In 2020, Murphy completed construction on 106.7 FM and currently serves as Managing Partner/General Manager for WLSC Tiger Radio.

Throughout Murphy's career, he's won numerous "Best of the Beach" awards and people's choice awards. He's also won several Addy Awards and SCBA Star Awards for his broadcast production. Along the way he has enjoyed success in television. He's produced, starred and directed several projects that have aired in New York, Chicago and here in Myrtle Beach. Since 1997, Murphy has served as host or co-host of "River Talk". Freakin' Deacon joined Jack as co-host of "River Talk" in the fall of 2019.
